Allen Boyer is presently a Professor Emeritus of Music at Modesto Junior College teaching Music Appreciation and Music Theory and singing in the Modesto Symphony Chorus.


He taught Voice, Guitar, Vocal Jazz, Theory and Choral Activities for thirty- five years at M.J.C. and retired in 2003.  While teaching, Mr. Boyer was very active as a tenor soloist in the Modesto area. He is well known as a Jazz singer and has performed in many venues in our city.


Allen graduated from Washington State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Music in 1959. He then was appointed Director of Vocal Activities at Eisenhower High School in Yakima ,WA.  A position he held for seven years. He earned his Master of Arts in Music in 1967at W.S.U. and also taught at W.S.U. as an Adjunct Professor for the next three years. In 1968 he moved to Modesto Junior College to become the Voice /Choral Director.


Mr. Boyer presently lives in Denair, CA. with his wife Betty and is very involved with his children and grand-children.  He is also very active in the Stanislaus County G.E.D. program as a volunteer.
